THE NATIONAL STATIONERY SHOW ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE BEST NEW PRODUCT AWARDS

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.— The National Stationery Show has announced the winners of the first annual Best New Product Awards competition, recognizing new and innovative merchandise introduced at the National Stationery Show. Prizes were awarded in four product categories in the following manufacturers:

• Decorative Home Office FlexAddress Systems' address book with replaceable entries for outdated information
• Party Product Helen & Evelyn's Shopper Topper, a combined greeting card and gift bag closure
• Stationery/Paper Product Paper Products Design U.S. Inc., paper plates and rice paper napkins designed by MacKenzie-Childs, Ltd.
• General Merchandise The Ensemble Company's decorative wall hanging from the Perelberg line

According to Patti Stracher, show manager, "There is a great deal of product diversity in the stationery industry and we felt it was important to formally recognize the various categories existing within the trade."

The panel of judges included industry experts from the five industry trade publications: Trisha Drain, editor of Party & Paper Retailer, Chris Gigley, stationery editor of Gifts & Stationery Business, Leslie Allen, stationery focus editor of Gifts & Decorative Accessories, Kathy Krassner, co-editor of Giftware News and Joyce Washnik, publisher of Giftbeat. Winners were chosen based on innovative product design, aesthetic appeal, creative use of materials or construction and designs with an emphasis on new technology.

The National Stationery Show is the premier U.S. market for stationery in approximately 100 merchandise categories. This year's show features more than 1,400 exhibitors, with attendance expected to exceed 20,000 domestic and international retailers representing both specialty and high-volume stores.
